Alison Fosbery, MA RP
I am passionate about guiding others towards transforming their thoughts and behaviours, as well as their relationships. My clients learn how to focus on what is going well for them; how to discover and rely on their strengths while incorporating new strategies. My methods include Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, Dialectical Behaviour Therapy, Mindfulness, and Positive Psychotherapy.
I started my career in the mental health field working with people with severe learning difficulties and children and families struggling with autism spectrum disorders. I have worked in a hospital setting as an eating disorder therapist. I enjoyed helping patients with their difficulties with food and body image and loved guiding family members towards understanding. I supported and intervened on both an inpatient and outpatient basis, and enjoyed working with those with unique personalities.
Today, I am driven by collaborating with clients who are excited about reaching their goals. My areas of speciality include depression/anxiety, relationship difficulties, parenting and family dynamics, eating disorders, and Borderline Personality Disorder.
I have an undergraduate degree in psychology, and a master's degree in Counselling Psychology. I am a certified Positive Psychotherapy Practitioner. I have had the privilege of working in the mental health field for over eleven years.
